Foco Global Limited (Foco) respects the privacy of its site users and therefore treats personal information with the appropriate level of discretion and security. Foco is a ‘data controller’ in respect of the personal information it collects and stores from both journalists and contacts.
What personal information do we collect about you?
We collect basic personal data about both journalists and also contacts (who have agreed and opted in to receive information from us). This information includes name, email, phone number(s) and contact address, as well as career background.
We collect information about journalists and contacts in a number of ways including:
• Third party providers, such as journalist databases (e.g. Roxhill Media)
• Bylines in newspapers, magazines, online sites and social media (including Twitter and LinkedIn)
• Provided directly by journalists and contacts
• Information from those who have signed up on our website and opted to receive news and view from Foco and/or clients
Why do we collect personal data?
We collect, store and handle personal information on journalists to enable us as PR and content marketing professionals to communicate with them, and provide them with information on the companies we represent, that they are interested in writing about. This information includes press releases, corporate news and views, business updates, events and activities, communicated to them via email or phone.
We may also handle personal information to keep our website secure and to ensure that our processes and procedures are as secure as possible.
Who are our clients?
Foco represents a number of companies operating in and around the financial services sector.
What do we do with the information collected?
Users who opt in to receive news from Foco may be notified about updates to our website and receive periodic emails from us regarding events, activities, news or information regarding Foco and/or our clients, that we feel may be of interest.
Journalists may be contacted by us with information on activities, news and events regarding Foco and/or our clients. This includes:
• Content and news we believe to be of relevance and interest (e.g. news releases, comment opportunities, forward features, placed articles, blog posts), both from Foco and clients
• Introducing clients or spokespeople to journalists
• Setting up client meetings (including briefing notes)
• Contacting journalists following enquiries or requests for information
• Invites to events (such as awards, roundtables, dinners, drink receptions) and conferences
• Correcting any inaccurate stories
Foco focuses on targeting just those journalists we believe are interested in hearing about news relevant to them.
All the personal data that we handle is processed by our staff in the UK. However, for the purposes of IT hosting and maintenance, Foco’s website is hosted by SquareSpace (GDPR policy here) and its email and server placed on the cloud through Google. You can review Google’s GDPR policy here.
We also collect and distribute marketing emails using Mailchimp. MailChimp is a service provided by The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 512 Means Street, Suite 404, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA.
The data stored when you registered for the newsletter (email address, name, IP address, and time and date of registration) will be sent to a server operated by The Rocket Science Group in the United States and stored there in accordance with its Safe Harbour Agreement.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard the personal information that you provide to us but no transit on over the internet can ever be guaranteed so we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transfer over the internet to us.
How long do we keep your data?
Foco regularly checks that the information it holds is still relevant. We continuously monitor to see if a journalist is still working at the outlet assigned to it, and if a journalist leaves the world of journalism, we remove them from our database, along with all their personal data.
If someone decides to unsubscribe or stop receiving news from us, they are removed automatically from our database, along with all their personal data.
How can you stop receiving e-mails from us?
If you do not wish to receive such mailings and would like to unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject header.
What other information do we store about you, or keep track of?
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you give your consent to data being processed by a service provider located in the USA.
We use the newsletter to provide you with regular updates about Foco and our work. To receive our newsletter, you will need a valid email address. By registering for the newsletter, we will save your IP address and date and time of registration. This will be used in case a third party misuses your email address to subscribe to our newsletter without your knowledge.
We will not compare the data collected during newsletter registration with any other data that might be collected by other components of our site.
Newsletter by MailChimp
We use MailChimp to send our newsletter to our subscribers. You may cancel your newsletter subscription and thus your consent to the storage of this data at any time. To action this, see the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of each newsletter, or email email@example.com.
Our newsletter includes trackers that allow us to recognise if and when an email has been opened and which links in the email have been clicked by its recipient.
This data is stored by us so that we can best align our newsletter to the wishes and interests of our subscribers.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you agree that your data and your user responses will be stored electronically by newsletter tracking so that you can receive a personalised newsletter. By unsubscribing from Foco’s newsletter, the consent to the aforementioned tracking is revoked.
Do we sell your information to anyone?
We do NOT sell your personal information on to any third party under any circumstances.
How we share your information and who we share it with
We respect your privacy and will not share your information with any third parties or other individuals/companies outside of Foco without prior consent.
